Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the SealMaxx process take?

Most average size decks, fencing, driveways and patio surfaces can be cleaned and sealed in less then 24 hours.

Where can I purchase the products and services used by SealMaxx of Nashville?

SealMaxx of Nashville is the only certified service provider of these products in the state of Tennessee.

Are the products safe around my home, children, pets and vegetation?

Yes, all of our products are environmentally friendly and safe. Some of the cleaners used are high in PH, but they are not toxic. All necessary precautions are taken to ensure the safety of your home, vegetation and areas located adjacent to the surface being sealed.

Will the SealMaxx process work on decks that have already been stained or sealed?

Yes, the SealMaxx process will remove most stains and sealants, provided they are not latex or acrylic based and restore your wood back to its natural color. Unfortunately, removing latex or acrylic based products are more difficult and expensive to remove.

How do I care for my deck, fence or siding sealed by SealMaxx?

Clean the surface periodically with soap & water or a mild deck wash.

Will the SealMaxx process fill cracks and resurface my deck?

The SealMaxx process will not fill splits, cracks, or checks.  Our process will generally stop any cracks or splits from worsening. Any boards that are in poor condition, i.e. warped, rotten or split should be replaced by the homeowner or a licensed contractor before the SealMaxx process.

How soon can I use my deck after SealMaxx has treated it?

Persons and pets are able to walk across the surface within a few hours. We recommend that you wait 48 to 72 hours before putting any permanent items back on the sealed surface and continue general use; especially potted plants.

Does SealMaxx provide estimates?

Yes, we provide written estimates that are always free.

Can I stain my deck, fence or siding after the SealMaxx process?

Yes, SealMaxx sealed wood surfaces will accept semi-transparent stains although this is not required for protection.

Does SealMaxx offer a warranty?

Yes, SealMaxx wood and concrete sealers carry a 25 year manufacturers warranty and the top seal or masonry sealer carries a 15 year manufacturers warranty.

What colors does SealMaxx come in?

Our sealant appears colorless to the naked eye with a clear matte finish. It brings out the natural grains of the wood.  (Note: color will vary based on age and species of wood.). For concrete and masonry the surface would appear natural also with a clear matte finish. We do offer color for wood and concrete too.

Does SealMaxx replace rotten boards or repair decks?

All wood repair and replacement should be performed by the homeowner or a licensed contractor prior to the SealMaxx process.

Will a SealMaxx sealed surface absorb moisture?

SealMaxx wood and concrete sealers generally do not allow the surface to absorb moisture as they are water proofers. Our masonry sealer generally does not allow the surface to absorb moisture as it is a water repeller. (Water will not bead up on surfaces sealed with the wood or concrete sealer, but will on those surfaces sealed with the masonry sealer.)

Why should I seal my concrete and masonry surfaces?

Concrete and masonry products are porous. They will allow the ingress of water, salts and other pollutants that, over time, will cause these surfaces to break down. Once you see evidence of a problem, it is too late and there may already be substantial damage under the surface.
